Thru Wall Flashing Repair & Replacement
Thru Wall Flashing Repair or Replacement is the process of removing the cladding, be it brick, stone, metal, etc., to expose the waterproofed substrate of the cavity wall, and repairing or replacing the flashing material designed to exhaust moisture from the cavity.
Our ability to perform historic masonry repairs, transfers really well into the remedial repair of more contemporary structures, such as cavity wall masonry, where the masonry is simply a cladding with no waterproofing purposes. The waterproofing lies within the cavity, when designed and installed correctly.
Mid-Continental workers are well trained in understanding how cavity wall construction functions, specifically the thru-wall flashing aspect of discharging moisture from within the cavity.
It is not uncommon for Mid-Continental to be contracted for the repair or replacement of thru-wall flashings on buildings that are only a few years old, and have leaked since being constructed. Installation of these materials requires an understanding and appreciation for the purpose, which does not exist on many new construction projects.
