Cleveland University – Kansas City

Cleveland University – Kansas City (formerly Cleveland Chiropractic College) has been in operation in the Kansas City area since 1922 and has occupied it’s current 34 acre Overland Park, Kansas, location since 2008. The main campus building and cafeteria annex are constructed of exposed aggregate pre-cast concrete and glass curtain wall, and were constructed in the late 1970’s.

The precast panels were accumulating atmospheric and biological staining and the curtain wall elements were in need of joint sealant replacement. Both structures were thoroughly treated using detergents and biological cleaners to remove the staining, and all joint sealants were removed and replaced. A clear water repellent was then applied to prolong the recurrence of future staining.

The three-story glass curtain wall acquisition building was experiencing sporadic leaking due to deteriorated gaskets within the glazing system. This building received a thorough cleaning, all gaskets were removed, and the system was re-sealed with a silicone sealant, bringing the building to a watertight condition.
