Barson Building at Oklahoma State University – Tulsa
The Center for Health Sciences campus of OSU in Tulsa has elected to repair one of the few older buildings on its campus rather than replace it. Specifically, the Barson Building required repair work due to the spalling concrete present throughout its entire exterior, which was caused by corroded reinforcing steel located under the surface. To carry out the required repairs, MCR was awarded the project.
Our work on the Barson Building focused on repairing the exterior by removing any loose concrete, cleaning the steel, and patching it back up with new concrete repair mortar. We then cut out and replaced the sealants between the precast concrete panels before applying a textured wall coating to the entire exterior surface.
This project involved a great deal of expertise in the field of concrete repair and restoration, as well as experience with textured wall coatings. By successfully carrying out these repairs, we were able to restore the Barson Building’s exterior to its original condition and ensure that it remains a functional and visually appealing part of the Oklahoma State University – Tulsa campus for years to come.
