Skirvin Hotel

The historic Skirvin Hotel, an architectural gem in Oklahoma City, recently underwent a significant renovation to address deteriorating conditions of the exterior, including the abandoned fire escape balconies. Over time, weathering and decay had left the balconies in poor condition, posing safety concerns and detracting from the hotel’s historic charm.

Scope of Work:

In addition to masonry restoration on all elevations, Mid-Continental Restoration was tasked with the meticulous removal of each balcony. Utilizing advanced techniques and a concrete saw, our skilled craftsmen carefully cut off the balconies. This scope required not only precision but also a high level of coordination to ensure the safety of both the crew and the hotel’s guests.

Challenges and Solutions:

The key challenges of this project included maintaining structural integrity during the removal process and minimizing disruption to the hotel operations. Our team prioritized safety and communication throughout, executing each phase of the operation with a commitment to excellence and attention to detail.

Results:

The successful coordination of the balcony removal, along with other restoration scopes effectively preserved the historical significance of this grand structure.
